HUG is an Australian based not-for-profit organization that focuses on establishing sustainable partnerships between two different cultures by working on two different levels. Firstly by connecting Australian individuals, families, businesses and schools to similar people in Uganda, aiming to have a positive impact on individuals and communities on both sides of the world. Secondly HUG implements grassroots agricultural and educational projects in Uganda. Our aim is to assist Ugandans and empower them to make a sustainable difference to their own lives. |

HUG Calendar back in 2011
Due to an overwhelming number of requests towards the end of last year for our HUG Calendars, we have decided to produce them again for 2011. HUG is now committed to working towards the development of a Community Health Clinic, which will further enhance the wonderful work being done at our Suubi Education and Community Centre. With this in mind we see the pre sale of HUG 2011 Calendars as an ideal way to kick off fund raising for this very exciting next step at Suubi.

June 17th, Documentary Crew at Suubi
The amazing Kate Leeming and her documentary crew have just visited our Suubi Education and Community Centre in Lubanda Village. To read all about it and all the other exciting things that have been happening in Uganda recently visit our 2010 volunteer blog.
May 12th, A new 2010 Volunteer Trip blog
With the first group of this years volunteers about to set off on Saturday we have developed a brand new 2010 Volunteer Trip blog. You will be able to read many inspiring stories as you follow along on their amazing adventure. Remember to visit the blog often!
May 1st, Suubi World Environment Day Celebrations
Planning is underway for a six week event to celebrate World Environment Day at Suubi. Extensive tree planting, environmental education sessions and a huge sporting tournament are sure to inspire community members from the 67 villages across Kiseeka sub-county, Uganda.
April 13th, Many Achievements at Suubi Recently
The last six weeks, since the beginning of March, have seen many wonderful achievements taking place at our Suubi Education and Community Centre. New books have arrived, a fabulous demonstration garden has been set up, the mushroom project is going from strength to strength and the Suubi Football Club took out the Easter Tournament! March 28th, Two new Ugandan schools join our School Garden Program
The communities at two additional schools in Uganda were thrilled to recently receive a water tank and a full set of garden tools. Check out all the information and photos on our HUG projects page.
February 28th - Suubi Accommodation Page
With an increasing number of people contacting us about volunteering in Uganda we have set up a new Suubi Accommodation Page. This will provide potential volunteers with information, photos, prices of accommodation and other costs associated with volunteering at Suubi. Should you require further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
January 18th - Preparing for 2010 Volunteer Trip
With the new year now well and truly under way Helen is currently making arrangements for a 2010 volunteer trip to Uganda in mid May. Anyone that would like more information about the trip should contact her here for details.
December 31st - HUGging For Christmas Proves To Be Popular
The addition of the HUG Shop to our website proved to be very popular over the Christmas period. Many people took the opportunity to buy a gift for their family and friends that will benefit the Ugandans, while their loved ones were lucky enough to receive a voucher that entitles them to 12 months of free HUGs!
The HUG Shop will continue to operate throughout the year and is a fabulous alternative for any gift giving opportunity. After all everyone loves a HUG!
November 26th - Kate continues on through Mali
The amazing Kate Leeming and her crew have now been cycling through Africa for close to six weeks and are currently in Mali. To follow this inspirational journey that is making it's way slowly towards our Suubi Centre in Uganda please visit her Breaking the Cycle in Africa site.
October 28th, Huge Climate Change Day Held at Suubi
Saturday 24th of October was an important climate change day right around the world. Over 5200 events were held in 181 countries worldwide with Suubi holding it's very own hugely successful function. For all the details and pictures visit the Suubi update blog.
