The first, of what looks set to become one of many, pre-loved hand bag sales was held at Kyabram and Community Learning Centre recently.
Much loved HUG board member, Loretta Lilford, had come up with a novel fundraising idea that was close to her own heart. Loretta knew she was not the only lady in town that had a love of handbags. As is the case with shoes, many ladies buy a brand new handbag; maybe for a special event or to go with a certain outfit, then only use it a couple of times before they grow tied of it.
With this in mind, Loretta thought, "Why not share those pre-loved bags around?" Five dollars entry and bring along a bag of your own for the trading table was all she asked. In return, she promised a fun night out with a chance to have a cuppa and a chat with other bag loving friends.

Setting up displays and chairs to be auctioned before the crowd arrived. Bags were not the only thing available on the night; craft made by the Suubi Ladies and Sparx Craft (Mamma Helen) were also popular.
The highlight for all of the ladies though was that they could purchase as many bags as they liked, most of them almost brand new, for just $5. What a bargain! All they need to do was put their name on the bags they wished to buy and wait for the selling to begin.

As the crowd grew larger the ladies took the chance to check out all the bags on offer while enjoying supper and a chat with friends.
Many ladies were happy to take home multiple bags, while some needed to go to auction to win their prized selection, if more than one lady wanted the same bag! Thanks to HUG's now regular auctioneer, John Lilford, who always keeps the crowd entertained, this proved to be a really fun part of the night. Two beautiful reclining chairs, that had so generously been donated by Shelia Haynes, were also auctioned on the night.

The crowd thoroughly enjoyed John fun lovingly squeezing the most out of them for each item he took to auction.
When the night drew to a close, everyone was thrilled to hear that an amazing $1275 had been raised from the night to help build Suubi Secondary College. Also double this, thanks to Planet Wheeler's fabulous $ for $ offer and it all of a sudden it was $2550! WOW, what a fabulous result!
It really is this amazing grassroots support and events like these that help HUG and Suubi to continue to grow and thrive. An enormous thank you to everyone single person who has helped in any way. Webale nnyo, nnyo, nnyo!
