The 2nd annual Fundraising Dance that was recently held at the historic Wyuna Memorial Hall certainly proved to be a great night for everyone who attend.
After the success of last years event, word had spread about the great family fun night out. To add a Ugandan atmosphere, some of the past visitor to Suubi Centre had bought back traditional dress to wear this year.

There was lots of laughter as Pauline and Loretta were helped to get into their gomesi.

Pauline helped Helen with her finishing touches before joining Loretta and Browny in his kansu. They all would have fitted in perfectly on that road into Lubanda Village!

Pauline, Helen, Loretta and Marg certainly added some beautiful colour to the night, while Browny took great pleasure in having his wife bow down to him, as is the tradition in many rural parts of Uganda.
After the fun of getting ready, the crowd soon started to roll in. Once again it was lovely to see families with their young children joining long time members of the local farming community. Everyone had a great time dancing the night away and being entertained by Vin Sleeth and the Red Dirt members.
People were also keen to support the fundraising for Suubi Secondary & Vocational College too though, so they happily bought raffle tickets and CDs that had so generously been donated by Vin. By the end of the night almost $1000 was counted up - With the Planet Wheeler $ for $ offer added, an amazing $1970 had been raised by this wonderful little community. What an effort!

Entry and raffle tickets were happily bought by the crowd who then enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with family & friends.

An auction of Vin's CDs proved a real winner and Nathan and Marcus had fun playing the african drums.

Earl and Jenny were the first out on to the dance floor to kick up their heels, but it didn't take long before everyone joined in.
A huge thank you goes to Earl and Jenny Phillips who once again did such a amazing job of organising this wonderful event. Through their link with the Wyuana Memorial Hall and their fabulous neighbour and ever energetic HUG board member, Loretta Lilford, they were able to pull off another fantastic night. Lots of fun for us here in country Victoria and helping to raise funds for SSVC in Uganda at the same time - a win, win for everyone!
