During the Christmas period last year a number of piglets were purchased, via the HUG shop, as gifts for family and friends. Recently, amongst much excitement at Suubi, these piglets were distributed to a group of very grateful Ugandan families.

Piglets were distributed to an excited group of ladies.

Nakafeero Sarah, left, looked happy to be one of the lucky ones to receive a piglets.
The recipients for the piglets were selected from families who have been actively participating at Suubi over the past 12 months and from those who showed the keenest interest in the project. This involved being willing to participate in training sessions at the centre to learn the most effective ways to care for and breed their animals. In addition to this beneficiaries needed to agree to pass back two piglets from their first litter to Suubi so that they could in turn be handed out to other deserving families in the area. What a wonderful way to continue to spread the spirit of Christmas and to make a REAL difference in many peoples lives.

Ssemwogerere David conducted a training session about how to best care for the new piglets.

Everyone was happy to be taking their new piglet home.
So although the usual Christmas hype is well and truly over in Australia the benefits can now be clearly seen in Uganda.
Thank you to all of you who spread the joy of Christmas a little further.
