December 24th was a very exciting day for the Suubi community; it marked the first anniversary of when the earth was turned to start the building of the centre 12 months ago!
Since the completion of the Suubi Community Hall many significant events have taken place at the centre. It has become a focal point for the entire community, where a wide variety of people meet to benefit from the many activities and training sessions held at the centre. The name "Suubi" has really lived up to expectation and the community is now filled with a new found "hope."
If you have not already done so, please take the time to read back through the blog entries to see all that has been achieved during the first 12 months at Suubi.
This special day was marked by a tree being planted at the centre to commemorate what a huge success the first 12 months at Suubi has been. Also many of the community got to together for a wonderful night of singing, dancing and celebrating.

The community enjoyed singing, dancing and celebrating on December 24th for Suubi's 1st birthday!
Also during the festive season another exciting event occurred; the mushrooms that were planted early in the month by the women were harvested and shared as part of the Christmas meal! The mushroom training has proved to be a real winner, with the women now having the skills to produce fabulous oyster mushrooms that have a very high nutritional value.

What a fabulous first crop of oyster mushrooms.

So as 2009 drew to a close the Suubi community took the time to celebrate everything that the past 12 months has bought them. They send their thanks to everyone who has supported them in any way during that time and they now look forward to 2010.
Here's to a great year ahead!
