Breaking the Cycle
In August 2009 HUG made a connection with inspirational Australian school teacher, Kate Leeming, who set off in October 2009 on an epic 10 month cycling expedition between Africa's most westerly and easterly points. As she travels through many of the worlds poorest countries she hopes to raise awareness about the causes and consequences of extreme poverty in Africa.
We at HUG are extremely excited as Kate and her team have scheduled a visit to our Suubi Education Centre in Masaka district during their time in Uganda. They are keen to see first hand the great things that are being achieved there and have committed to trying to help us expand the connections between Australian and Ugandan schools.
Through Kate's association with the Victorian Education Department and Early Childhood Development an
innovative educational programme has been developed meaning Australian school kids and teachers can be involved in this inspiring and educational adventure. Many individuals and schools will be following Kate's progress via her website therefore the time she spends at Suubi will be seen by a diverse range of people. This is all very exciting! Please take the time to follow Kate's amazing journey, it is sure to inspire you to get involved. Simply by clicking on the link below you will be able to follow along as she makes her way towards Suubi.
